Michael Duus

Michael Duus, 67, passed away on December 19th, 2023 at his home in Panama City Beach, Fl. He passed away peacefully next to his loving wife of 47 years, Debra, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories together.

A true son of the sea, Michael had an unwavering love for the ocean that defined much of his life. Michael could often be found on a boat, where he felt most at home. As a seasoned fisherman and boat captain, Michael navigated the waves with skill, determination and most importantly a sense of humor. His days were spent hauling in catches and sharing stories with his friends and fellow fishermen in his thick Danish, almost-Cajun sounding accent.

Michael Duus is preceded in death by his Mother Grace Duus, Father Chris Duus. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Debra Duus, his sister-in-law, Myra Florian, nephew Calvin Florian, wife Kelly Hart and their son, Nashville. He is survived by his brother Martin Duus, wife Donna Duus and son Michael, his sister Jetta Scheuer, sister Cindy Taylor and daughters Gina and Ashley, sister Tina DeShieilds and daughter Mindy and son Travis. All who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A memorial service will be held on a date and location to be determined in the Spring of 2024 in Panama City Beach. Friends and family will be invited to join in celebrating Michael Duus's life and sharing their memories at that time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Andrew’s State Park, a place that was dear to Michael and Debra’s heart.

In honoring Michael, let us remember the man who sailed through life with positivity. His time here on Earth will forever be intertwined with the ebb and flow of the tides, and his memory will live on in the vast, timeless horizon he so dearly loved.
